2010 here I come!Friday, March 5, 2010
The new season officialy begins this weekend, March 6th, and I am ready to get to that finish line! I finished in 7th place last year, but am shooting for the top five this season. The LVMS banquet was great. My sister (Kylie) recieved a skateboard deck as a Championship trophie! She was the Champion of Jr. Novice for 2009. I got a gold Christmas tree, and my dad (Jon Wakenhut) got a great surprise. He got the "Come back of the Year" award. The Wakenhut Racing Team is hoping to go far this year. Well, it's the new season, and it's going to be a fun one! So come out and watch. A Big Win for Wakenhut RacingWednesday, May 20, 2009
Hi race fans! Last weekend's Hot Rod Heritage race turned out great for the Wakenhut Racing Team. My Dad, Jon got his first event win in the Hot Rod class. We were all very excited and happy to bring home a trophy! This weekend, Kylie and I will be racing our Jr. Dragsters in two events. The first one is Saturday night and it will be fun running under the lights! The second racing session will be Sunday morning. Hopefully we can bring home a couple of trophies too! Hope to see all of you there! Getting ready for a two-day racing weekendThursday, April 23, 2009
Hi race fans! This weekend we are having a Junior Drag Racing doubleheader. We will be hitting the track on both Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m. Please come out and watch us race! We had a great time at the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals a couple of weeks ago. Kylie and I even got to have our Junior Dragsters signed by Cruz Pedregon and Ashley Force Hood. Hopefully that will give us good luck! See you at the races! Brooke Wakenhut A good weekend for Wakenhut RacingThursday, March 19, 2009
Hi race fans! We had a great weekend at the track! Thank all of you that came out to support us. I think that all of the cheering really drove our racing and excitement! I made it to the final round of my class last weekend and ended up finishing runner-up. Dad and Kylie did great too - they both made it to the semi-final rounds in their classes. So team Wakenhut Racing did awesome this weekend and we can't wait for another shot to bring home some wins at The Strip! Brooke Getting Back to RacingWednesday, February 18, 2009
Hi everyone! Getting back on the track last weekend was awesome! Being a racer, you know that you are mainly full of excitement, but you have that one little shock of nerve inside you. I strangely had so many butterflies, it was crazy! But it was worth it just to get out and race. I hope everyone can make it to at least one of the races this season at The Strip, I can't wait! Rained-out racing last weekendWednesday, February 11, 2009
Are you serious? Why did it have to rain last weekend? The first race of the season was cancelled on Friday, and we were so excited to start the season. Oh well, we can't control the weather (I wish we could). Most of the racing was rescheduled for this weekend. I haven't only been dealing with getting ready for the racing season. I've also been planning for my 12th birthday party this Sunday. We are going to the movies and then having a sleepover. Sometimes it is hard to plan for something so simple! Hope to see you all soon at the track! Meet new blogger Brooke Wakenhut!Friday, January 23, 2009
Hi, my name is Brooke Wakenhut. I race for the Wakenhut Racing Team which includes me, my sister Kylie, my dad Jon, my stepmom Sara, and my little brother Kade. We race at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the Short Line Express Jr. Dragster Series and the LVMS Championship Drag Racing Series. I am 11 years old and run in the Junior Thunder Class (10-12 years old). In this class, I can run as quick as 8.90 seconds in the 1/8 mile at about 75 mph. 2009 will be my third full season. During my first year of competing at The Strip, I finished third in points. Last year, I slipped to 11th, but this year I want to shoot for the championship! My sister, Kylie, is nine years old and runs in the Junior Novice Class(8-9 years old). Her class runs as quick as 12.90 seconds in the 1/8 mile at about 55 mph. Last year was her rookie season and she finished second in points to her now rival, Cody Parsons. He's a great driver and was tough to beat all year long. My dad runs in the Pro Class at The Strip. His '67 Camaro runs about 12.0 seconds in the ¼ mile at about 115 mph. He made it to the finals once last season and was really excited. He said it was a lot of fun to go that many rounds...I told him, "I know, it is fun, isn't it!" Ha ha! My stepmom, Sara and my brother Kade, who is four years old, are our pit crew who help us, feed us and cheer us on! Well, the season is about to start and we are all excited. Dad has been working on both our cars, getting them ready to go and we have been out seeing if we can get sponsors for this season. I hope to see you all at the track! Brooke |
